Hyperplastic polyposis syndrome: endoscopic imaging, phenotypic charcteristics and molecular pathways

چکیده
Phenotypic characteristics Hyperplastic polyposis syndrome (HPS) is a heterogeneous condition involving colorectal serrated polyps and is associated with an increased colorectal cancer (CRC) risk. We evaluated the clinicopathological features of HPS patients and their first-degree relatives. Previously published case series report CRC at clinical presentation in up to 50% of HPS patients. We analyzed the risk of developing CRC after HPS diagnosis and which variables are associated with CRC in a large multi-centre cohort of HPS patients undergoing endoscopic surveillance. Furthermore, the prevalence of polyps and CRC in firstdegree relatives is described and compared with the background prevalence in the general population.

Endoscopically treated Cronkhite-Canada syndrome associated with minute intramucosal gastric cancer: an analysis of molecular pathology.
There have been no reports of Cronkhite-Canada syndrome (CCS) associated gastric cancer resected with endoscopy because it is very difficult to identify small cancers that are candidates for endoscopic resection. We report a case of CCS with gastric cancer treated with endoscopic submucosal dissection, and we evaluate the molecular pathological analysis of malignant transformation in patients w...
متن کاملA case of juvenile polyposis of the stomach with multiple early gastric cancers.
The present study described the case of a 24-year-old man who was diagnosed with multiple gastric hyperplastic polyps in 2004. Repeated Helicobacter pylori tests were negative, and colonoscopy revealed no specific findings. The patient started taking a proton-pump inhibitor and iron supplements as a result of anemia caused from the occasional bleeding from the polyps. The number and size of the...
متن کاملA Case with Serrated Polyposis Syndrome Controlled by Multiple Applications of Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection
BACKGROUND Serrated polyposis syndrome (SPS) is characterized by numerous hyperplastic polyps and sessile serrated adenoma/polyp (SSA/P) in the large intestine. SSA/P is known to transform into malignant lesions through the serrated pathway instead of the adenoma-carcinoma sequence. Early diagnosis with lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and early treatment are now considered to be essential. CAS...
متن کاملEndoscopic features of sessile serrated adenomas: validation by international experts using high-resolution white-light endoscopy and narrow-band imaging.
BACKGROUND Sessile serrated adenomas/polyps (SSAs/Ps) are premalignant lesions susceptible to being easily overlooked by endoscopists. A detailed description of the endoscopic appearance of SSAs/Ps might help endoscopists to recognize these lesions to improve the effectiveness of colonoscopy. OBJECTIVE To identify various endoscopic features of SSAs/Ps using high-resolution white-light endosc...
متن کاملClinical and pathological features of hereditary mixed polyposis syndrome: report on a South African family.
BACKGROUND Hereditary mixed polyposis syndrome is characterised by multiple large-bowel polyps of differing histological types including a mixture of atypical juvenile polyps, hyperplastic polyps and adenomas. Affected individuals are thought to have an increased risk of malignancy, possibly via the juvenile polyposis pathway. METHODS A 51-year-old woman (with a history of a colectomy for pol...
